Good performance management starts with good information, which can be used to help performance adjust and improve if managers are willing to have the courage to have difficult conversations about performance issues. This information should be collected from different sources and perspectives to minimize bias, and concrete exemplars should be used to calibrate subjective perceptions in order to minimize bias.
